Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I package a bumper for shipment? Is it to big to mail?
A: We ship bumpers via UPS. Please take off all nuts, bolts and brackets before shipment. You can wrap the bumper in brown paper or cardboard and tape over it. Please include a packing slip with your name, address, phone number and a list of parts you are sending us. Then you can call us and we will send you a UPS call tag. UPS will come pick up your package at your door or you can also visit the UPS website to find a drop location near you.
Q: Why don‘t you chrome wheels or rims?
A: The process for chroming wheels or rims is very different from other pieces. We chrome bumpers, door handles, trim, bezels, emblems and a thousand other types of parts, but we‘re not setup to chrome rims.
Q: Why don‘t you chrome mainfolds, headers or exhaust pieces?
A: Although our chrome process is very tough, the heat from exhaust systems tends to give the chrome a deep blue tint. It is better to use a process designed for high heat. We recommend www.Jet-Hot.com.
Q: What is the difference between "Hard Chrome" and "Chrome Plating"?
A: "Polish Chrome" (sometimes called Nickel-Chrome) is used for bumpers and automotive brightwork. If involves a coating of nickel, to give it a mirror finish, followed by a flash of chrome for tarnish resistance and extra corrosion resistance.
"Hard Chrome" is a thick layer of chrome that offers exceptional hardness, wear-resistance, and oil-holding capability, but limited corrosion resistance and a dull finish. "Hard Chrome" has industrial applications but is not used for brightwork.
Q: Is Chromium and Chrome the same thing?
A: Yes, Chromium is an element (CR-24 on your high school elements chart), the word "Chrome" is an industry slang term representing the application of Chromium to metal surfaces.
